Well that first usually short relevant introduction paragraph kind of turned into some crazy cross website content device promotion....BUT anyway watchin' TV I stumble upon the latest Seth Macwatchaface escapade, The Cleveland Show. Its kind of weird, both Josh and I thought the same thing when we heard about this....."Was I dreaming or did Cleveland get a spin-off show" and thinking about it it does seem really weird to have a spin-off show of a prime time animated comedy and to have Cleveland starring in it. I never really thought it was going to be him in they had one. It seemed like everybody had a mancrush on Stewie so I assumed it would be him....I'm kinda glad its not.
I suppose it does suit Seth Maclikesjunk's style to pretty much reword every piece of work hes ever made. I'll run you back on where pretty much all the popular animated comedies got their "Inspiration" from. Okay Family Guy is basically The Simpson's in a different setting. The Simpson's is pretty much the animated version of Married with Children or Kids or Whatever. Family Guy rewords pretty much every Simpson's episode in a way that makes them seem fresh and new but if you dig deeply just masks it. American Dad is just Family Guy without pointless sketches and ultimately for dumber viewers makes it self less funny. Then The Cleveland Show is pretty much exactly the same as Family Guy. So it all works from a template but its just a lot more obviously seen by Seth's teams animation and comedy style.
Wow! I actually need to start talking about the show. Okay so lets begin....really! Family Guy season 8 was terrible and plainly not funny. I guess producers saw this and decided the only way to make Family Guy funny again is to more it to a new setting without the need of heavy introduction because of prior knowledge. I don't really want to go into depth about it because you should see it for your self.
I would have to say it worked and with a great pilot for the show with over 9 million people watching it I'd say that is a success. So I'll give you the rundown of the plot it won't take long. Cleveland feels that his life in Quahog is.....lacking and motivated by his house being legally won by his wife....I don't know how that worked....he wants to follow his dream to live in California. Things happen that get him together with an old high school crush that has 2 kids you can probably guess what they resemble and Cleveland gets the custody of his 14 year old son. AHEM seriously I can't believe they made it funny again..and I didn't mean to say amen.
Like all shows there is some stupid stuff seriously a talking bear.....they need that to make the show funny...hes not even funny! But all in all it was a pretty good episode and I'll most likely continue to watch it until there is an future slip in quality.
this is felix, i forgot my log in email >_<
ReplyDeletebut the guy on the left looks like a black version of a mix between Homer S, Bart and Peter Griffin.
no racism intended.
Intriguing post. I like the use of the pages and also the Google Friend Connect tool. However, it looks like you need to update the logo under "Our Incredible Sponsor". *Tut, tut, tut*
